On Sunday, 10 August 2014 from 9:30am to 2:30pm, over 60 Brownies and Gumnuts from the Flinders Region (Castle Hill, South Townsville, Aitkenvale, Wulguru, Kirwan, Ross and Charters Towers) gathered at the Townsville Heritage Centre in West End to celebrate 100 years of Brownies. The event was named the “Big Brownie Bustle”.
Girls paid a $5 entry fee to participate in a 10 station round-robin event. The stations were divided into the themes below, containing a varying number of challenges. The girls had 15mins per station to complete as many of the challenges as they could. Each girl was provided with a “playing card” that was marked off by Leaders supervising the area.
The day was a great success. The girls seemed to enjoy the activities and there were lots of smiling faces and excited babble when they shared their experiences with their families that afternoon when leaving.
